On November 5th, the Empowerment Group’s Women’s Business Center will present a conversation with local artist, educator, and entrepreneur: Betsy Casanas. Betsy will discuss her work as the founder of the Semilla Arts Initiative, an arts organization that works to create social change and community empowerment through the arts.
While public opinion of big business has taken a turn for the worse in recent years, small business owners continue to be leaders in their communities—improving their neighborhoods by creating jobs and maintaining an important sense of place. As a business owner and resident of the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia, Betsy has first-hand experience with the impact that leadership and innovation can have on a community.
This event will be held at the A Seed on Diamond gallery at 124 Diamond St on November 5th from 4:00 to 6:00pm. Admission is free and includes beverages and light hors d’oeuvres. For more information, visit the EG “Events” page or contact Alex Hosford at 215-427-9245, ext 203.

Empowerment of women is good for the society and the economy. We want more and more millionaire women entrepreneurs. Empowering women through arts is a good initiative.
